Do you like pictures of cats?

Try out www.Icanhascheezburger.com dedicated to pictures of cats, interesting to say the least, I wish Petsdelighted had its traffic. I am also told that there is a new video on YouTube posted by a lady who has taught her cat to eat with chopsticks, apparently you search for "cat chopstick" on the site. Enjoy surfing.

Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home

This incredible institution has been around in Edinburgh since 1883. How many other pet charities can boast a life as long? Let me know please. Anyway more to the point, they are seeing donations fall sharply and given their history it would be a great shame to see it in financial difficulty especially as abandoned numbers are rising. You can donate directly on their new website. Please pay it a visit. www.edch.org.uk

Cane toads and a Myxomatosis parallel?

According to a recent article I read, University of Queensland researchers working on a solution to the countries enormous (metaphorically and physically - "huge, hungry and highly toxic") Cane toad problem are suggesting a chemical tablet that may disrupt the tadpoles breeding patterns. So here we have a solution (perhaps) to a problem humans created by bringing the Cane toads into Oz in the first place to control beetles. And if they die out or develop an immunity we have a parallel with the Myxomatosis situation all over again. We continue to use and abuse nature.

Who was Scooby Doo

Can anyone tell me is Scooby Doo a Rhodesian Ridgeback? On watching the cartoons with my kid I cannot see a ridge. We'd love to know what breed he is? Thx.

Digging dogs

Anyone have suggestions to stop my 10 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback from digging up newly planted tree saplings? It must be something in compost, he seems to go mad.

Request for help from cat lovers

A request for help from anyone with a unique cat:

Hi there

I was wondering if you could help me, I am working for a TV Production company called Silver River and we are looking for people with cats with behavioural problems that might be interested in taking part.

Please see the attached press release.

I was wondering if there was any chance this small press release could possibly go somewhere on your web site, or even possibly in a newsletter you may send out? As I am sure some of your subscribers would be interested in the show!

Hope to hear from you soon

Kind Regards
Juliet Redden

Bees and badgers

Two stories have concerned me this last week. Firstly, although I acknowledge they are not pets, the potential badger cull. Secondly the worrying decline in honey bees. Despite my invitation for reciprocal links with the badger people - it was declined rather snootily as "badgers aren't pets" - I still feel sorry for the beautiful beasts AND am not convinced that they are the sole cause of the Bovine TB. Trigger happy farmers may be happier to pull triggers first and ask questions later. Please feel free to badger me with your views (sorry).

The honey bees decline from what I gather could be related to pesticides which is terrifying especially as we will be ingesting those never mind the knock on effect of reduced pollination. These factors could be a "tipping point" of some sort. Please feel bee to comment (so sorry).

Welcome to Petsdelighted

This is my social petworking site where I hope people from all over the world can communicate on any pet related matters. The site is free and will remain so. Petsdelighted needs your contribution to make it work and is grateful for all your input on pets. I have always had pets, they are beautiful, therapeutic and help balance life. I wish someone had told me a couple of things about my Rhodesian Ridgeback (called Callahan) before I had bought him. They would not have discouraged me because he is a fabulous pet but it would have been helpful to know AND neither of these things were mentioned in any books or articles I had researched. So it is my hope that this site can help people communicate with others for all manner of tips and information sharing that will ensure the enjoyment and health of all the kinds of pets in the world. Incidentally has anyone else ever had an Axolotl as a pet? Please let me know. I hope you enjoy my blog and our site. I have added a copy of an article for today's inaugural blog, I hope it is of interest, please let me know and register on the site to communicate with all your pet owning friends everywhere.

It's Fun to Know: DVD-Detecting Dogs

Everyone's heard of drug- and bomb-sniffing dogs. But dogs can sniff out software, too.

In Malaysia, two DVD-sniffing black labs have so far helped police take nearly $3.5 million worth of pirated DVDs off the streets. In a recent bust, Lucky and Flo sniffed out 150,000 discs stashed in a shop in Kuala Lumpur. Local media report that movie pirates have put a price on the dogs' heads, leading to increased police protection.
